OGTA Pro Staff

Susi Orbanowski

Susi is the manager of the club and runs the show! She has been in the tennis industry for quite some time and calls OGTA her second home. Susi used to run the tennis program for the town, runs the summer camps at OGTA, and is a certified Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) coach.

Darren Lavallee

Darren has taught tennis for over 8 years in the Greenwich area, including building the tennis program at the Riverside Yacht Club. He has worked at a few other clubs in the area, and now spends his time working at OGTA and developing the program. Darren is certified as a USPTA Pro-1 (highest designation), and also a Modern Teaching Methodology (MTM) Pro and has bachelor degrees in Computer Science, Marketing, and Business Administration. When not on the tennis court, Darren enjoys cycling, running, and being in the outdoors.

John Bott

John is currently the head tennis pro at the Riverside Yacht Club, and oversees the entire junior program. Before joining OGTA, John spent his winters in the Michigan artic where he is from. He absolutely loves teaching tennis and it shows from the moment you meet him. He is always happy, and brings joy to whomever he is coaching. Aside from being a great guy, John is a fantasic tennis player who can hit serves at 130mph. John enjoys running, playing cards, and going to tennis tournaments, baseball games, and concerts.

Carla McKenzie

Carla grew up in North Carolina and played collegiate tennis at Methodist University where she won two ITA National doubles titles and was named as a three time All-American.

Carla earned her undergraduate and graduate degrees from Methodist and was recently inducted in the Methodist University Athletic Hall of Fame.
She is certified by both PTR (National Tester) and PTA (Professional 1). She is a Master Racquet Technician and certified in Sport Science Level 1. She has taught tennis for 14 years and five of those have been in the Fairfield County area.

When off the court, Carla enjoys spending time on the boat with her husband, loves indoor cycling and going to concerts, baseball games and tennis matches. Her favorite bands are Dave Matthews, Dixie Chicks, and The Rolling Stones. Her fondest memories are training with John Isner as a kid, winning two national doubles titles and being inducted into the Methodist University Athletic Hall of Fame.
